Default Gw1 gwamm

Hey, quick backstory, I never delved into GW1 before, instead playing many other mmo's, however having played the Beta weekend for GW2 it looks amazing and I can't wait to play the full game. In the mean time I noticed the title 'God walking amongst mortal men' was transferable.

So did a little research and noticed this title requires 30 out of the 43 titles to be obtained in GW1 My question is from now 11th May, to the predicted release date July 26th for GW2, is it possible to get the GWAMM title, taking into consideration that I will only be going after it, I don't have any premade characters in GW1, however I am a dedicated MMORPG player and can put in a few hours or more each day.
Please don't look down on me for being an achievement RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO, or for only just being introduced to GW1 ^_^. Woudl also appreaciate all wisdom, or links on how to go about this! THANKYOU

Short and sweet, probably not. It'd take much more than 2-3 hours a day over two months starting from complete scratch. If you had the money you could buy runs, speedbooks and vanquishes, but even then it'd be pretty close.

I think the vanquishing and cartography will take the most time. Averaging about an hour a zone (some take less, some take more), you're looking at 121 hours right there.

Skill hunter will also take some time, though it can be partially synergized with vanquishing....

But the North reps should pretty much come on their own from doing the vanquishes, missions and dungeons. Not sure you'll have to do much speedbooking.

Bright side is you will have time to continue working on this even after GW2 is released, though they haven't stated how long that window will be open.

Tips? Start in Prophecies and do Legendary Defender of Ascalon. Free and relatively quick title, which you will need considering you won't have the benefit of any account-wide titles.

EDITED TO ADD: Also, take advantage of the daily Zaishen Quest rotation for bonus faction/rep and money (sell your Z-coins), and the weekly Nick the Traveler farms to either sell the gifts or for your own use for your consumable tracks. Also consider having a dedicated Pre-Searing character to farm for his daily counterpart.

Also worth mentioning that the predicted launch date for GW2 is quite unlikely for various reasons - the most obvious one being the quite inconvenient, mid-summer debut.

You'll probably have much more time than you think to get all your titles

You should play whatever class suits your play style, however I belive that the best class you can get for doing gwamm is the warrior.Since you will be doing most things with heroes the war does that better than any class-charge in with your high armor doing huge damage while your heroes do the rest and are not being hit (since you are taking the brunt of the attack)

Getting the gwamm title probably takes at least 3/4 year for someone dedicated who starts from scratch, with no prior knowledge how to play, and with sane online times. May be longer.

Getting it from scratch, with a virgin account, with 0 gold, by July 26th: absolutely impossible.

Edit: if you really go for it, choose the class that most closely fits your general preference. But please forget the suggestion of going as warrior. Caster/ranged classes more synergize with a team of heroes. If you must go as melee, go as assassin. But it is much more difficult to control your heroes as melee character than as ranged character. You have more awareness of what's going on by going ranged.

If you're wanting GWAMM, (and I agree with Zooey, not in 2 months), you can still grab some titles here or there and add it to your HoM for gw2.

It has been confirmed that after gw2 comes out you'll still be able to work on your titles and such, and can continue adding them to the HoM.

But think of it realistically. Find the 30 titles you want to max. There are 8 rep titles (you may choose them, you may not), 2 of which are max 10 MIL faction spent. I've only recently got to r4 on my second one (the minimum for HoM in Kurz/Lux) and I'm not planning on going any further.

So write down the titles you want to get, then write down what you need to get them. Then think realistically about it. Search the wiki if need be, it's there to help you.

That is if you aggro them properly.

I would suggest a Necro, as they're flexible and have the soul reaping benefit, which imo is VERY helpful.

Flag your heroes an aggro bubble behind you, then cancel the flag,so they lag behind enough that you get all the initial aggro-easiest thing in the world

There is no "best class" -- it's what you find most enjoyable. Some people swear by assassins, others favor ritualists, while all the other classes have their fans.

They all have their pros and cons.

If you do Prophecies and Legendary Defender of Ascalon, you will be limited to Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Mesmer, Elementalist, or Necromancer.
Warrior is physical melee, ranger is physical ranged. These are vulnerable to blocking, blindness, and foe armor resist.
The rest are casters, where elementalist does armor-respecting damage and the others do armor-ignoring damage (though I think some monk spells also respect armor). This is a slight factor in hard mode.

The community feels that ranger as ranger could use a boost from the developers, which they say they're looking at; they also claim to be looking at the monk's smite line, which is probably the most viable way to play monk with a party of heroes. However, there are skills which make smonks usable, and the limitations of rangers can be overcome by utilizing the secondary profession.

Mesmers, Elementalists, and Necros, due to their inherent energy management, can also exploit a lot of secondary builds quite effectively.

Play around and see what you like (you may even decide to go for a Factions or Nightfall profession, but bear in mind that will add a grind title to your goal).

It is possible yes, I've been playing two months and I'm about 2/3 of the way there. Generally been quite a casual player but had a few hardcore weekends

Also getting help from the Services Offered forum for some of the tougher/time consuming parts of the game makes it a lot easier if you can get some gold together (I had friends help me out with cash so have it a little easier).

It's quite a fun grind, so enjoy it

Also, any class should work, as your heroes will do most of the work. I went with Warrior to try tank some of the damage, granted I knew nothing of the GW agro system, but it still works ok as a meatshield with the minions

As others said, it will take time unless you play like crazy.
Vanquishing/mapping/HM Missions will take time.
Titles that use consumables will require a lot of money.
I'll PM you a guide I found online.
Also Guild Wars Wiki has good guides.

Nope, not in 2 months. If you had all the point title stuff ready and money to pay people to do missions/vanqs etc for you while you sleep then you could.

Best route would be:
Start in proph, get LDoA, then go after all the regular stuff. That'll take you to 28 and around 500hours of time provided you can play well. Then based on your time per day, and provided you're fully focused it'll be around Wintersday where you'll have 2 weeks to buy & farm booze/sweets/party points to finish it.

Theres some synergies you can do since you're starting now.
-Do Vanq & Carto together. Saves a bunch of time. Pick up the skill hunter titles while you are at it.

-Take advantage of the Zaishen Daily Quests for additional cash while working on Vanq/Guardian/Dungeons (will come in handy for the sweet/booze/party titles).

-Double rep point weekends - make good use of these, EotN rep weekends especially.

-7hero teams. Most of us didn't have these for the majority of our title hunting. They speed up things a lot and make the game much easier. Plenty of great builds found in the hero subsection here.

Thankyou so much for the feedback guys! awesome community Kinda makes me wish I had tried GW1 earlier! Anyway's seeing as my lust for titles has simply grown from reading your messages I have decided to simply give it a shot and see how far I get by the release as I need a form of grinding to do while I chat to people on skype and guildies etc if interest builds I could even keep a blog or some form of diary entries to keep you guys updated on how I'm doing, chances are I will need to do a whole load of research over the next few days! I'm a bit of a perfectionist and have to be 100% certain I am doing things in the most efficient way possible :P Any more thoughts/ ideas/ tips or even death threats are welcome

I'll try to estimate a reasonable completion time for GWAMM, assuming that you do all 3 Zaishen quests when they come:

The 3 Protectors + all 11 EoTN primary quests + all NM Dungeons (1 mission per day and 1 dungeon per 4 days or less) -> 69 days
Legendary Skill Hunter (capture 4-5 elite skills per day while doing NM Zaishen quests) -> 0 days
The 3 Guardians + all 11 HM EoTN primary quests + all HM Dungeons (1 mission per day and 1 dungeon per 4 days or less) -> 69 days
Legendary Master of the North (vanquish and do cartography for the remaining 15 areas, 1 area per day) -> 15 days
Legendary Cartographer and Legendary Vanquisher (same as above for the 121 areas, 1 area per day) -> 121 days
Sunspear, Lightbringer (already maxed from all the vanquishing) -> 0 days
Asura, Deldrimor, Ebon Vanguard, Norn (already maxed from all the vanquishing) -> 0 days
Legendary Survivor (just capture less than 267 Elite skills without dieing; if that fails, do Kilroy Stonekin's Punch-Out Extravaganza and get this maxed in 5 or 26 hours) -> 0 days
Sweet Tooth + Party Animal + Drunkard (buy them from other players when they're cheap, like on the Canthan New Year, Easter, Guild Wars Birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Wintersday) -> 0 days

If you don't have the money to buy some of those last 3 titles, then replace 1 of them with the Kurzick or Luxon title by vanquishing Kurzick or Luxons explorable areas repeatedly (which can take a really long time) or by getting the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title (which is possible within 20 hours).

But, assuming the player has the money to buy those last 3 titles, then a rather unskilled player, that is mildly dedicated, could get GWAMM in 274 days or exactly 9 months.

I'm not saying that you are unskilled or undedicated but that's just to give a rough estimate of how long it takes to get the title.

I highly agree. I would recommend Necromancer just because they have epic energy management in 95% of the PvE content.

I started about 3 months ago. I think I have around 375'ish hours in my main char so far. I got LDoA, All the cartography done. Almost all elite skills capped (missing a few nightfall ones). I have Legendary Survivor. I've done all the normal missions up to the end of Nightfall. I've done a few vanquishes and hard missions, based on Zaishen things. So clearly, I have a long way to go for GWAMM.

It's taken a lot longer to do things than I would have expected. When you're trying to do things all at once, there's just not enough cash to go around. Even learning your elite skills is a huge drain at 1 plat a piece.

If you decide to do it, your best option is to spend some RL cash to speed it up. Buy all the skill unlocks. If you go LDoA, then run (or have someone run you) to Lion's Arch once you get out of Pre-Searing. Take a trip to Elona and pick up the early heroes. Probably the same for EoTN (I haven't spent much time up there yet). Even just Elona though, you can pick up 7 heroes quickly (Koss, Dunkoro, Melonni, Jin or Sousuke, Tahlkora, Olias, Zenmai) plus M.O.X. outside any of the capitals. That gives you a full party. Assuming you're a caster, it gives you 2 monks, some meatshields, and support.

Then, look at the PvX site (or here) for hero builds. Heroes are drastically better than henchmen.

I didn't buy the skill packs, but instead manually unlocked all the skills, mostly by playing alts. In hindsight, I would have bought the packs.

Edit: Oh, if I had to pick a class to start with, and I wanted LDoA, I would go elementalist. My main's a ranger, and it's pretty bad. If you do go ranger, then figure out how to get barrage as quick as possible (probably the guy in Factions).

Realistically, you're looking at the best part of a year, no matter how good your min/maxing is. On the plus side, you don't actually need to get it before GW2 launch and you have 7 heroes. On the down side, it really depends how focused you are and how focused you stay.....

3000+ hours on my main toon and I still have to VQ the last few zones in Elona... but then I've got 50/50 on my main account, 30/50 for two friends and 47/50 (working for 50) on my brothers.
